Instructions for Professional Dental Whitening Gel
It is important that you apply whitening gel properly so you do not waste the gel and experience the least amount of sensitivity while bleaching. Your satisfaction is important to us!
Prior to Treatment
Please brush and floss prior to bleaching your teeth. The whitening gel is the most effective with clean teeth. Try the trays in first without any bleach to check the fit and comfort. Make sure that the bleaching trays are clean and dry before applying the whitening gel. Moisture reduces the efficiency of the whitening gel and slows down the whitening process.
Applying the Bleaching Gel
When you apply the gel, be sure not to overfill the trays.
Place a SMALL drop, about this size O, of tooth whitening gel in the center of the front surface of the tray where the front of your teeth contact it. Do not spread the bleach around. Recap the syringe for the next treatment until empty. We recommend that you only bleach the front 6-8 teeth as no one sees the back teeth.
Inserting the Bleach Trays
Seat the tray firmly against the teeth. If excess gel seeps over the brim of the tray onto your gums, it is advised that you wipe it clean with a Q-tip. The gel can cause irritation to gum tissue, but should heal within 24-48 hours. Wear the tray with the gel as directed.
Wearing Time
The manufacturers recommend wearing times are:
Philips Zoom Bleach 9.5% 1 hour (twice per day maximum)
Philips Zoom Bleach 14% 15 minutes (twice per day maximum)
After Whitening
Remove the tray and rinse off your teeth. Brush any remaining gel away. Brush, floss and continue routine dental cleaning. Use toothpaste for sensitive teeth if necessary.
Caring for your Trays and Bleaching Gel
Clean your trays with your toothbrush in COLD water, not warm to ensure they do not change shape. Store clean, dry trays in the tray case and store your bleaching gel syringes in a cool dry place away from heat and direct sunlight (and pets).
